“Shambolic” maybe an overused word when it comes to my favorite band, The Replacements, but it’s an apt term for tonight’s show. Or at least the first ten minutes. Yes, it’s a mini-disaster. After airing this week’s selection for the “52 Weeks of Teenage Kicks” series by The Vibrators, I talked about the fact that you can now purchase the version I world premiered last week by Jeremy Porter at his bandcamp. (http://jeremyporter.bandcamp.com). In fact, please go purchase it now, as all proceeds go to the Hater Kitty Army. But after introducing a re-airing the tune, my broadcast program decided to completely rearrange my playlist and a completely different tune aired for a few seconds.
I quickly fixed the issue, though, and everything was fine after that. Tonight’s show is a collecton of tunes that I’ve been listening to in my spare time. There’s a set devoted to my favorite rock and roll couple, Amy Rigby and Wreckless Eric, inspired by “Do You Remember This”, a clever little tale of their relationship that may or may not be true. There’s a set that sort of centers around Johnny Thunders, beginning with a couple of Kinks songs before heading into a couple of different directions.
There’s also a long set inspired by Some New Kind of Kick, the memoir of Kid Congo Powers. Wow, what a story. What a life! A chance meeting on the street with future Gun Club leader Jeffrey Lee Pierce led to him picking up the guitar, and withn a few years he was a part of not only the Gun Club but The Cramps and Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds!
Other sets include a handful of fabulous Rum Bar Records new releases, and favorites by the likes of Exploding Hearts, T. Rex, The Knitters, and others. Concluding the show is a little tribute to the late Tina Turner with a track from her fabled 1969 run opening for The Rolling Stones.
And like always, I must again plead with y’all for more versions of “Teenage Kicks”. If you are a musician, or have any contact with artists that could record their own take on the classic, please contact me!
This week Dave Coop slams you with brand new, Since We Were Kids, Red Kate and Ground 2A! Plus tracks by Mob Mentality, Knock Off, Clay Face, Urban Waste and The Old Breed!

When I conceived the “52 Weeks of Teenage Kicks” project late last year one of the first things I did was to contact artists that I considered friends of the show. I’ve been blessed over the years to have some wonderful musicians regularly send me their latest projects.
One of those friends was Jeremy Porter, leader of Jeremy Porter & The Tucos. For almost the entire time I’ve been producing The Ledge, Porter has provided me with fabulous music, and has also introduced my show to many of his fellow musician friends.
It was honestly no surprise when Porter responded that he was indeed interested in contributing a version of “Teenage Kicks”, but I was blown away by his overall plans with the tune. Tonight’s episode is the world premiere of his cover, which will be officially released next Friday (5/26) on his bandcamp page. While the track will be a “name your price”, proceeds from those who do the right thing and pay for the track will go to the Detroit-based charity, Hater Kitty Army, led by Sue Summers. “Hater Kitty Rescue Army is a neighborhood cat haven on Detroit’s Eastside,” Summers explains. “We have been serving abandoned cats for the past nine years by providing food, shelter, spay and neutering, and re-homing the ones we can.”
What is especially gratifying about this project is that Summers is not only a friend of Porter’s but a huge fan of The Undertones! “(They) were one of the first punk bands I saw in concert, at a tiny neighborhood theater that hosted all ages shows,” Summers recently recalled. “The song ‘Teenage Kicks’ has always been a favorite teenage anthem of mine and still remains timeless.”
Besides Porter’s fabulous cover, tonight’s show is a hodgepodge of new and old favorites. Included is a tribute of sorts to Big Stir Records, as earlier this week they had a big announcement of six new signing to their label. It seems like a pretty obvious idea to devote a set to these artists, which include Graham Parker, The Spongetones, The Cyrkle, Flashcubes, Arthur, Alexander, and Sparkle*Jets UK.
Sprinkled throughout the show are some of the other submitted versions of “Teenage Kicks” to remind everybody that I’m always looking for new covers. If you are a musician, or have any contact with artists that could record their own take on the classic, please contact me!

This week’s show, after a small snatch of Gordon Lightfoot: brand new Damned, Crocodiles, Wedding Present, Flyying Colours, 1984 Draft, Black Watch, and Mist Double, plus John Entwistle, Bettye Lavette, Mamas & the Papas, Wilson Pickett, Jimmie Davis, Brimstone, and Lloyd Price; and R.I.P Gordon Lightfoot (1938-2023)
After last week’s special Record Store Day edition of the monthly “new release” show, we’re back this week with the more traditional type of broadcast devoted to brand new tunes. And, like usual, we’re all over the place when it comes to genres. There’s some great power pop. There’s a little bit of punk. A tad here and there of garage rock. And, yes, there’s some Americana.
But it’s not just the varied genres of the show. It’s the fact that this music comes from all over the world. From Australia to Germany to Canada to even my little city of Sioux Falls, SD. Yes, the first set of the show is devoted to a trio of great local bands – The Rose Quarter, Thought Patrol, and Off Contact – all of whom have wonderful records that are eithier already out or about to be released.
As for the “52 Weeks of Teenage Kicks”, I have a cover that’s almost 40 years old but is still technically a new release. The version by Dawn Chorus & The Blue Tits initially came out on Stiff Records in 1985, but it has also now been included in a brand new collection of female power pop. She’s Got The Power! Female Power Pop, Punk & Garage not only includes this track but tunes by Blondie, The Dollyrots, Baby Shakes, Amy Rigby, Lydia Loveless, Shonen Knife, and many more!
And, of course, I have to once again beg y’all for brand new covers of this classic tune. Please, please, please, if you have the capabilities, or know any artists that would be perfect to remake “Teenage Kicks”, send them my way! Next week, I will be world premiering a brand new submissions that I’m sure you’re all going to love!

Thanks to last week’s unseasonably chilly weather, I found myself hooking up a turntable to my podcast mixer. Over the course of the next few hours I dgitized the pile of records I had picked up on Record Store Day a few weeks ago. (Why do they no longer include download codes?)
Once finished, I decided that this wonderful pile of music deserved it’s own show, and since the start of every month commences with a “new release” episode (or two), why not spotlight this music? Technically, these are all new releases as they came out on the same day, even if some of the music dates back sixty years.
So that’s what we have tonight. Two hours of Record Store Day highlights. From garage rock compilations to long out print albums to live recordings to specially recorded rarities, tonight’s show is varied in not only years but genres. There should be something for everybody. But true new music fans should not worry, as next week’s second part will be a more traditional “new release”, and I have a ton of great material set aside for the show.
Of course, the one non-RSD track is this week’s edition of the “52 Weeks of Teenage Kicks” series. I’ve selected one of the more popular versions of the tune. The Northern Irish rockers Ash released it as a b-side back in 2001, and reportedly still ocassionally pulls it out in concert.
And once again, I must reiterate that I’m looking for brand new recordings of The Undertones’ classic. If you have the capability, or you have friends in a band, please submit a version. BTW, in two weeks I will be premiering a brand new version by a band that all Ledge fans are familiar with.

Tonight unveils a new sort of theme for a Ledge episode – Twofers! Everybody loves a twofer deal at the bar, so why not transfer the idea to rock and roll. (Yeah yeah yeah, I know radio stations have done this for decades. But it’s new to The Ledge!)
The inspiration was a handful of great records that I’ve been paying a lot of attention to in the last few days. Last Saturday, for Record Store Day Sioux Falls (soon to be) legends Off Contact put out a few advance copies of their upcoming debut album, Pearls Before Swine. Of course I had to air some tracks off it!
And then two days ago I received what may be my second-favorite power pop album of the year. Paint Fumes new record, Real Romancer, is chock full of great hooks accompanied by the sort of noisy guitars that everyone knows I love so much. Of course, I couldn’t resist airing tracks from the brand new albums of original punkers The Damned and former Sex Pistols bassist Glen Matlock.
But it’s not all twofers on the show. There’s a “four-fer” of selections from the Record Store Day release of previously unreleased live Husker Du tracks, Tonite Longhorn. There’s five tracks from the infamous C86 compilation, picked due to my love of the new Whatever Happened to the C86 Kids? An Indie Odyssey by Nige Tassell. And there’s a lengthy set of one-off tunes by Justine & The Unclean, The Darts, The Morning Line, The Scarlet Goodbye, and Single Mothers.
Even the latest in the “52 Weeks of Teenage Kicks” series is a twofer. When I saw that both Thee Headcoats and their all-girl cohorts Thee Headcoatees had covered the classic it just made sense to play them as a pair. Of course, I also have to remind everybody that I’m still looking for new versions of The Undertones classic. Please, please, please send them my way!

This week is another show devoted primarily to music I’ve been listening to around the house. The first half is dominated by new tracks recently sent to me by various labels, and sometimes the artists themselves. There’s a new tune from Sioux Falls’ own Thought Patrol. There’s Big Stir’s latest projects featuring former Standells leader Tony Valentino. There’s the usual handful of Rum Bar Records releases, including the return of The Short Fuses.
The second half of the show are highlighted by recent box set releases of The Velvet Underground, Dead Moon, and the legendary live 2Tone Dance Craze soundtrack, along with favorites by the New York Dolls, The Mummies, The Creation, The Pretty Things, and Paul Revere & The Raiders. There’s almost 60 years of fabulous rock and roll!
As for this week’s edition of “52 Weeks of Teenage Kicks”, I don’t have a lot of background information regarding the version by a band called Funeral Service. All I’ve managed to find out is that they were a French band that put their cover out in 1986 as the b-side to a version of the classic “Pills”. If you have any info on this band, please let me know.
And please, please, please pass the word on that I’m still looking for brand new covers of The Undertones classic tune. If you have the capability to record your own version, or know some great musician friends, get on it and send the recording to paulisded @ gmail dot com.

As for the “52 Weeks of Teenage Kicks”, I do have a brand new entry but it’s not actually a submission. Last week, The Waco Brothers put out a fabulous new record, The Men That God Forgot, and I was thrilled to see they included their incediary take of that classic.
Of course, I have to remind you that I am still looking for submissions. Please, if possible record your own version, or put the word out to your musician friends. If you have any questions, feel free to send an email to paulisded @ gmail dot com.

Procol Harum lyricist Keith Reid (1946-2023)
Show season is heating up! Got tickets to W.A.S.P., 999 and Chuck Prophet and that's just in April. None of these artists are on this month's playlist but you'll find some punk, hard rock, grunge, hip hop, alternative, thrash and soul.
As this is the last show of the first quarter of 2023, and even airing on the last day of the month, it’s only natural that we take a look back at some of the stunning new records released so far thsi year. It has been quite a year, especialy if you are a fan of guitar-driven music. Power pop, in particular, has made a great comeback this year, highlighted by the likes of The Whiffs, Local Drags, and Ryan Allen And His Extra Arms.
But it’s also a great year for returning legends. Yo La Tengo, The Long Ryders, The Church, and Iggy Pop released their best albums in years. Billy Childish reunited the legendary Thee Headcoats for their first album in 22 years, and it’s a smoker!
For this show, obviously, the main highlight comes from the “52 Weeks of Teenage Kicks” subtheme, and we received thrilling news earlier this week. The very first person I contacted when I came up with this idea was Malibu Lou from Rum Bar Records. Obviously, I was hoping that he could convince some of his bands to participate (and I still hope they do). What I wasn’t expecting was for Lou to make the very first new submission. Weeks later, Lou uploaded his cover as a free Bandcamp single, and it’s now in rotation on SiriusXM’s Underground Garage!
As a thank you, I’m again airing Lou’s cover, but this week’s opening spot goes to The Dollyrots’ cover that was found on last year’s Down the Rabbit Hole compilation. Once again, though, I’m pleading with all listeners, musicians, labels and/or anybody else to please record their own version of the Undertones’ classic. I’d love for some more new submissions to air, and maybe it can lead to bigger things just like what happened with Malibu Lou!!! If you have any questions, please send an email to paulisded@gmail.com

This week’s show, after a 1977 Weirdos warble: brand new Flyying Colours, Robert Forster, Naked Raygun, Bitter Defeat, Reds, Pinks & Purples, OFF!, Foam Giant, and Death Cab For Cutie; plus Fats Domino, Beatles, Bee Gees, Junior Byles, Howlin’ Wolf, Johnny Cash, Graham Nash, and Sandy Denny; and R.I.P. Weirdos guitarist Dix Denney (1957-2023)
Just like last week, this episode is primarily based around what I’ve been listening to in the Ledge home base over the last few days. Some of it is brand new material. Much of it has been old faves that span almost 60 years of great rock and roll.
Overall, though, this show is primarily a showcase for old and new power pop. In the new category, there are fabulous new tracks by The Whiffs, Sharp Pins, Uni Boys, and The Trouble Seekers, along with “excavated” recordings by The Bings and Popsicko.
As for old faves, it’s a history lesson of sorts. There’s The Monkees and The Kinks from the 60s. The Jam, The Flamin’ Groovies, Nick Lowe, Graham Parker, and The Rubinoos from the 70s. The 80s are represented by the likes of The Barracudas, Dwight Twilley, The Bongos, and Camper Van Beethoven. Maybe the 90s aren’t as highly represented, but there is “Tayter Country” by The Cavedogs, quite possibly my favorite song of 1980.
As for the “52 Weeks of Teenage Kicks”, this week’s version comes from The Mahones, the legendary Canadian/Irish punk band that always features a quality cover or two on each of their albums. Their version of “Teenage Kicks” is twice represented on their (mostly) live A Great Night On the Lash record. The first version is the final song of their encore, while the tune aired tonight comes from a bonus “Belfast Sessions” tacked on to the end.
Like always, I’m still out here pleading for brand new versions of “Teenage Kicks”. Please pass the word on to all of your musician friends. If you have questions, or have a submission, shoot me an email at paulisded@gmail.com

This weeks On The Nod has new segments of Andy K’s Music Of The Streets, with tracks bSoftenon Babies – Hangover from Tokio, 3CR – One Way, Angel City Outcasts – Youth Rebellion, Hero – At it Again, 4 Skins – Chaos, 4FT Fingers – One For The Road, TSOL -WW3,Discipline – Now or never, ANL – Dead Heroes, Control – 10 Years of chaos,Sad Boy Sinister – Do Or Die.
Benny Brujo’s HEAR THE DARKNESS Brand new tracks by, -Destruct, Planet On A Chain, Electric Chair, Illiterates, XIAO, Greyhound and MORE! Plus, an old-school mini-set with: KORO, 7 Seconds, S.H.I.T. (covering Crucifix) and more! Also faves from Daunted, Hollow Point and more! Bruja’s WORLD NOISE has a kick ass segment with The Damned/England, Svetlanas/Russia, The Savages/Japan, Stiff Richards/Australia, Savage Beat/Netherlands, Ratos do Beco/Brazil, Concrete Control/Ukraine, Fracture/France, Ultra Razzia/Canada, Random Killing/Canada and a special song from Bruja’s daughter Eleanor Lucille! And starting things off with Dave Coops playlist includes tracks by The Monsters, Aggressive, Suzi Moon, The Reapers, Violent Traditions and More! Also Classics by The Dils, Subhumans and Fear!
PLAY EXTREMELY LOUD!!!
This week’s show, after a 1966 McCartney warble: brand new Eyelids, Black Watch, Live Skull, Lemon Twigs, Successful Failures, Peter Case, and Jim Corradi/Music Will; plus The Beatles, Larry Williams, Peter & Gordon, Shocking Blue, Rufus Thomas, Tammy Wynette, and Billie Holiday, and an interview With Jim Corradi, on singing at City Winery and Carnegie Hall this week!
This is another of those shows that really has no format. It’s pretty much a rundown of the music I’ve been listening to around the house the last couple of weeks. There’s some great reissued vinyl by Thee Headcoats, Beat Happening, Bottle Rockets, and others. There’s old faves pulled out of the stacks by the likes of Jason and the Scorchers, Hypstrz, Curtiss A, and (shockingly) The Replacements.
But I also made room for some new tunes, highlighted by the return of Minneapolis faves High on Stress with their new single, “Over/Thru”. I have no word as of this point whether it’s a sneak preview of a new full-length album, but I’m obviously hoping that’s the case. Other new tracks include tunes by Huck 2, The Downhauls, Lone Wolf, and The Tearaways.
As for the “52 Weeks of Teenage Kicks”series, I aired one of the more interesting remakes that I’ve found of this fabulous song. The story goes that at some point many years ago, former Young Ones star Adriam Edmondson “accidentally” bought a mandolin. After learning a few chords he began to play a few old punk rock faves. This led to him forming a Celtic-leaning band, The Bad Shepherds, whose albums primarily covered those same punk songs he had found himself learning on his new instrument. So in honor of St. Patrick’s Day, I felt it a perfect time to air The Bad Shepherds’ “Humours of Tullah/Teenage Kicks/Whiskey In the Jar/The Merry Blacksmith” medley.
Again, I’m putting out a request to all musicians and wannabe musicians to submit your own version of “Teenage Kicks”. If you have any questions, or have a version ready for me, contact me at paulisded@gmail.com

The second part of this month’s new release series sees no drop off from last week’s extravaganza. In fact, it makes the case that 2023 is shaping up to be yet another great year of music. There are long-awaited returns by The Reverend Horton Heat, Chickasaw Mud Puppies, Cheater Slicks, and Shonen Knife. There are great new bands such as Civic, Strange Neighbors, and The Circulators. There’s some punk. There’s some power pop. There’s some indie rock. Yep, just like normal.
This week’s entry for the 52 Weeks of Teenage Kicks series is a version that was released in 2022. The Knee-Hi’s are a great Chicago based band whose album, Charmed, is described on their site as “a living love letter to rock ‘n’ roll, serving up a mixture of rock, punk, glam, power pop, garage and doo-wop”. Sounds like a Ledge band, right?
Once again I’m pleading for anybody out there to send in their own versions. I want as many new covers as possible! All you have to do is record it and forward it to paulisded@gmail.com.

March 8th, 2023. Tommy Unit LIVE!! #573 – TONIGHT…..A sneak peek into the new Daddy Long Legs rekkid! We go LIVE!! at 10pm ET/7:00pm PT on REAL PUNK RADIO – Radio Done Right!

This week’s show, after a small snatch-a 1960 Chuck Berry: brand new Fastbacks, Chime School, Telephone Numbers, Death Cab For Cutie, Salim Nourallah (with Marty Willson-Piper), Belle & Sebastian, and Graham Nash; plus The Beatles, Neil Young & Crazy Horse, West Coast Pop Art Experimental Band, Marvin Gaye, Action, Pioneers, and Huey ‘Piano’ Smith & His Clowns (R.I.P.)
Once again, there is so much great new music coming out that this month’s new release show is forced to be split into two separate episodes. Tonight’s first part not only features the usual great tunes from labels such as Rum Bar Records and Big Stir Records, but is highlighted by an extended set from a record that will undoubtedly end up towards the top of my best records list at the end of the year.
That record is the latest by The Whiffs, Scrach ‘n’ Sniff. Simply put, this is everything that I love about power pop. The pop hooks are certainly there, but it’s the “power” portion of their sound that sets them apart from almost everyboyd else in that subgenre. They aren’t just a power pop band. They’re a solid rock and roll band. I hope you love them as much as I do.
I’m also pleased to have a set of local music this month. Yes, Sioux Falls, South Dakota does have a music scene, and tonight’s show features new music by Winter Hell, Thought Patrol, and Merry Martial. Please check out their bandcamp sites!
And, of course, there’s also this week’s edition of “52 Weeks of Teenage Kicks”. I have a great new rendition by Iowa City’s Blast Choir, who just a few weeks ago sent me their killer “The B.C. EP“. Thank you, my friends, for your submission, and once again I’m pleading for anybody out there to send in their own versions. I want as many new covers as possible! Send them to paulisded@gmail.com.

Ever since Honningbarna appeared on Turbojugend Radio in 2014, we´re hooked on the energetic, angry, fresh, unpredictable, uncontrollable, no-holds-barred – you get it – attitude of young Norwegian bands.
B. Engel and Tschebesta grabbed a mic and interviewed the young chaps trying to figure out WHY and HOW Norway always seem to come up with super-unique, kick-arse music that moves the living sh*!t out of us. Me talast!
Saw Henry Rollins here in town last night do more than 2 hours of spoken word gold. Don't miss out if he's coming to a city near you! In other news my daughter has started to buy records and that is putting a SERIOUS dent in my wallet... On this month's playlist you'll find some punk, garage, hard rock, rhythm & blues, psychobilly and thrash.
This week’s show, after a 1958 Huey “Piano” Smith tribute: brand new Lovejoy, Dot Dash, Black Watch, Eyelids, Shana Cleveland, Field School, Guided By Voices and an Autodidact Dreams world premier; plus Beatles, Temptations, Manfred Mann, Kinks, Paul Revere & the Raiders, June Carter, and Winston Samuels; and R.I.P. Huey “Piano” Smith (1934-2023)
It’s always shocking when you stumble upon tweets or articles noting the anniversary of beloved albums. You can’t help but wonder how something that seems like it came out yesterday is actually…well, old!
That’s the case with tonight’s show. Every single song you hear is 25 years old. It’s just insane to me that some of my favorite Americana (Son Volt, Golden Smog, Drive-By Truckers), power pop (Sloan, Tommy Keene, Nada Surf), singer/songwriter (Elliott Smith, Silver Jews), and punk (Fugazi, Screeching Weasel, Bad Religion) records have hit this milestone. It just doesn’t feel like nostalgia
As for the “52 Weeks of Teenage Kicks” entry, I’ve got a fabulous rarity. 1998 saw the release of Scandal Controvery and Romance, the classic debut record by The Prissteens. To celebrate the 45th birthday of their A&R rep, Howard Thompson, the pressed up 45 copies of a tribute song called “Oh Howard!”. The b-side of this single was their Undertones cover that featured a few lyrical changes and retitled “Teenage Dicks”. (Both of these tracks were eventually reissued on 2020’s The Hound collection of rarities and demos.)
Once again, I’m always actively looking for new covers of “Teenage Kicks”. Please don’t hesitate to create your own personal spin on one of the greatest songs of all time. Contact me at paulisded@gmail.com if you have a version to submit or if you have any questions regarding this project.

This week Dawn Coop hosts a all new On The Nod with brand new segments of WORLD NOISE w/BRUJA, HEAR THE DARKNESS w/BENNY BRUJO and ANDY K’s MUSIC OF THE STREETS!
WE ARE BACK AND LOUDER THAN EVER!
This week’s show is once again a mix of old and new. There’s quite a few brand new releases highlighted, accompanied by quite a few records that I’ve found myself playing in my free time.
Which leads me to a question to my lovely listeners. For as long as I’ve done the show, the presence of “themes” has been a constant. Honestly, that’s how my brain works best for picking music. It gives me a reason to air a tune. Even the monthly new release episode is basically a theme that’s just like shows based on certain years or terms.
Lately, I have sort of abandoned the theme and played these kinds of old/new mixes. Part of this is that due to the fact that I now report a top ten playlist every week to the Radio Indie Alliance. I know I can submit any ten tracks I play but I’ve been paying even more attention to new music than usual.
So this is what I want to find out from you guys. Do you like these freeform type of broadcasts or should I revert back to having a weekly theme? The themes aren’t going away entirely, no matter what anybody says. But should they become a monthly occurrence just like the new release show? Let me know by commenting on this post, or contacting me on the various social media platforms. Oh, and I need ideas on what to title these shows!
As for this week’s edition of the “52 Weeks of Teenage Kicks”, I’ve got a nice little surprise from Rum Bar Records artist Jenny Dee & The Deelinquents. Jenny’s version came out in 2013 as the b-side to her single, “Getaway”, and the 50s pop/rock feel is a refreshing take on the punk classic. Thank you Jenny Dee!!!

Burt Bacharach (1928-2023)

It’s no surprise that Los Angeles rock band Palms Station has a spiritual quality to their music: multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Hillel Tigay is also a cantor and musical director at IKAR, one of the largest and most influential progressive synagogues in Southern California.
bdrmm’s new single, “It’s Just a Bit of Blood” meanders and surges with epic dream pop— and shoegaze—drenched results. Now we have to wait til June 30th for the LP, “I Don’t Know”.
After a couple of EPs, Dry Cleaning made their mark with 2021’s New Long Leg and “Scratchcard Lanyard” in particular showcasing the band’s unique mix of a propulsive rhythm section, inventive guitar and most of all, Florence Shaw’s deadpan, spoken word vocals. She’s not a singer in the conventional sense, but rather is a portal into a wildly surreal world of smashed pottery, Nordic coiffures and discharging of military grade weapons. Somewhere, Don Van Vliet looks down and smiles.
Last year’s Stumpwork is a continuation of their sound, complementary rather than revolutionary. The artwork definitely raised a few eyebrows, with “Stumpwork” spelled out across a bar of soap the color of pale flesh, using wayward pubic hairs curled into letters. Love it or hate it, at least it’s not boring and the design team certainly hit their mark.
Once again we have a show devoted primarily to material I’ve been listening to around the house. Honestly, since it was announced that Television’s Tom Verlaine had passed away on January 28, 2023, I have wanted to do a little tribute to him on The Ledge. So tonight you can hear a handful of his classic Television and solo tunes. RIP.
There’s also a wide variety of tunes that comprise almost 60 years of rock and roll. There’s a handful of garage rock classics from the acclaimed Pebbles series. There’s a track from one of Robert Gordon’s collaborations with guitarist Link Wray. There’s also a sort of tribute to Burt Bachrach in the form of a Stranglers cover that somehow caught my ear a day or so before the announcement of his death.
And there’s also a couple of sets of new tunes, primarily songs that were cut from last week’s new release episode, along with more cuts from recent Rum Bar Records releases. I’ve also premiered the newly reissued single from Popsicko on Big Stir Records, which was officially released today. (Look for a full album later this spring).
Don’t think that I’ve forgotten about my yearlong sub-theme, “52 Weeks of Teenage Kicks”. This week’s submission is from a great friend who has not only been a Ledge listener for over a decade but he’s a bigtime supporter of RealPunkRadio in general. Kingbubbatruck, aka Brent Dowell, sent the show a fabulous, slowed-down version that is perfection. Thank you, Brent.
Speaking of the Teenage Kicks theme, I was given the opportunity to be a guest writer on S.W. Lauden’s Remember the Lightning substack. The piece was publsihed this past Thursday, so please go give it a read here! Thank you, sir, for the opportunity!

This Seattle five-piece’s first two albums, 2019’s Over the Bar and 2020’s Straight In/Straight Out so wowed Elvis Costello’s Attractions and Imposters keyboardist Steve Nieve, he supplied alluring piano to this third LP’s soulful ballad “Harder Than the Truth.”
