The Ledge #541: Halloween Spooktacular

The Ledge #541: Halloween Spooktacular

I may say this every year but it is worth repeating. Halloween is the ultimate rock and roll holiday. Like truly great rock and roll, Halloween is dangerous, controversial, and noisy. Religious idiots for decades have claimed both are associated with …

The Ledge #518: Record Store Day

The Ledge #518: Record Store Day

I have a few friends who are no fans of Record Store Day, but I love it. Yes, everyday is Record Store Day for me, but it is one of the few days of the year that I’m a social butterfly. I absolutely love the bonding of music geeks in the lines outside stores, and over the years I’ve actually made some friendships out of these same people who brave the elements on this day. We actually kind of look out for each other. If one of us is looking for something quite rare, it’s not unusual for another one of us to grab it for that person. Live Ledge #402: North America 1979

Live Ledge #402: North America 1979

The final show dedicated to 1979 returns to America. As an earlier show already featured the Midwestern tones from Minneapolis, Chicago, and Cleveland, this week is primarily dedicated to the East and West Coasts, with little sets at the end featuring Texas and Canada. There’s even a set featuring some of the few mainstream bands from the era that I could handle back when I was an angry (or angrier) high schooler. It’s been a lot of fun rediscovering some of the tunes of my youth, along with discovering bands that I missed out on hearing at the time. After listening, please go purchase those tracks you enjoy!
